The division shall collect a fee for dog licensing.

(a) The owner or custodian of an unaltered dog may place a deposit for spaying or neutering with the division for a one-year license. This deposit shall be forfeited if said operation is not performed by the expiration date of the license.

(b) A late penalty, as set by the board of supervisors, shall be charged if:

(1) A license is not renewed prior to the expiration date;

(2) Puppies are not licensed within thirty days after reaching four months of age;

(3) Any dog brought into this county is not licensed within thirty days;

(4) A person acquiring possession of a dog over four months of age does not license it within thirty days of taking possession. (Ord. 2838 § 12, 1998: Ord. 2764 § 1 (part), 1996: Ord. 2474 § 1 (part), 1990)
