Chapter 23.08 SPECIAL (S) USES
23.08.045 Aquaculture.
The following standards apply to aquaculture uses:
(a) Permit
Requirement. Development plan approval.
(b) Coastal Access. Shall be
provided as required by Section 23.04.420, including adequate provision for
lateral beach access if channels or pipes cross potential
accessways.
(c) Fencing and Screening. The requirements of Section
23.04.190, apply to aquaculture in all land use categories where such uses are
allowed. Where visible from a public road, such uses shall be located to
minimize visual impact.
(d) Required Standards.
(1) Facilities shall be
designed and located so as to be of an appearance compatible with natural
surroundings.
(2) Aboveground on-shore facilities for aquaculture shall be
screened from the view of public roads and adjoining parcels.
(3) Intake and
outfall lines shall be placed underground except where underground installation
is not feasible, as in the case of salmon culture.
(4) Facilities shall be
sited and designed to prevent adverse impacts on agricultural land and
environmentally sensitive habitats.
(5) Natural vegetation buffer areas
shall be maintained to protect riparian habits. (Ord. 2592 § 9 (part),
