The intent of this initiative is to establish San Luis Obispo General Hospital by ordinance to ensure that the people of San Luis Obispo County shall have the right to approve by vote any closure, sale or lease of San Luis Obispo General Hospital, hereafter referred to as General Hospital.

To the extent permissible by law, it is the intent of the electorate that the provisions of this ordinance be retroactive to January 5, 1996.
